MY STORY

My journey toward a holistic, evidence-based approach to fitness ignited during my childhood. Captivated by the chiseled physiques of renowned bodybuilders and celebrities in magazines, I aspired to attain a similar aesthetic.

In those early years, I believed that sheer effort, whether through relentless pushups or intense workouts, would lead me to my goal. However, reality struck, revealing a stark truth: many of the admired physiques were shaped by the use of performance-enhancing drugs.

Determined to align with the Move Meta philosophy centered on health and wellness, I recognized the need for a more holistic approach. Move Meta emphasizes a well-rounded, evidence-based fitness journey, steering clear of shortcuts or compromises on health. It’s about achieving optimal well-being authentically, in harmony with your body’s natural capabilities. Welcome to the Move Meta philosophy – where health, wellness, and authenticity converge.

Despite not being bestowed with exceptional genetics and firmly rejecting the use of performance-enhancing drugs as a shortcut, I found myself grappling with an extremely slender physique. Even with hearty servings of my mom’s delectable Colombian dishes every night—Arroz con Pollo, frijoles, y pescado frito—the scale refused to budge.

In the face of this challenge, I refused to yield. Determined to realize my dream physique naturally, I embraced the Move Meta philosophy. Despite the initial struggles, Move Meta stands for resilience and a commitment to achieving your goals authentically, without compromising your well-being.

Navigating the path to my fitness goals proved to be more challenging than anticipated. Experimenting with various methods—Keto, intermittent fasting, dirty bulking, devouring a dozen eggs a day, rigorous two-hour daily workouts, heavy and light lifting—I left no stone unturned in my quest for transformation.

The struggle intensified as conflicting advice flooded in. The ripped gym regular touted one approach, while online forums and Instagram influencers insisted on something entirely different. Trusting these sources based on appearances left me disheartened as the promised results remained elusive.

Stuck in a cycle of frustration, a breakthrough moment occurred when I stumbled upon a 2010 study titled “The Mechanisms of Muscle Hypertrophy and Their Application to Resistance Training.” Delving into the scientific intricacies of muscle growth and optimizing training variables, this discovery became the key that unlocked progress. It was a turning point, propelling me beyond the confusion and guiding me towards a more informed and effective fitness journey.

I was fascinated. Beyond fascinated. I read the whole thing. I felt like I stumbled upon a gold mine. 

I started reading more of these studies and applying the findings to my own training and my results skyrocketed. 

I applied this to my clients, and the same effect happened there.

I finally felt like I finally had a source of truth I could trust. 

Then it hit me… if I could blend my love of science with fitness, that would be my dream. And I knew I couldn’t be alone. 

I couldn’t be the only one who was frustrated with opinions and suggestions that just didn’t work or didn’t know I could trust.

This eventually led me to pursue a career in fitness. I went all in. 

Diving into the research, learning from experts, getting a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and taking more training certifications. 

What I was learning and applying worked so effectively that I knew I had to share this with the world.

That’s when I decided to start my own Youtube channel and Built With Science was born…
